CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — The second night of the Showdown At CAR saw another crowded pit area with 117 cars signed in with four IMCA divisions in competition.
A format change meant the top 16 in passing/finishing points advanced to the main event for each division.
Luke Silber was in charge the entire main to take the modified win. Several restarts gave Brian Schultz hope but Silber continued to build a lead.
Austin Kuehl took second from Schultz with an inside pass on turn four with five laps remaining and settled for second. Silber won his first modified main on his third time racing in the division with a flawless drive.
Stock cars showcased the division for the second night of the Showdown. Cole Czarneski took off the quickest and quickly built a five-car-length lead. Fifteen non-stop laps meant traffic and Scott Sluka closed to within a few feet.
A yellow with four laps left gave Czarneski clear sailing and Sluka tried inside and outside moves but finished second to Czarneski while Bo Partain was third.
Northern sport mods were looking at a flag-to-flag run by Boddie Parker as he continued to lead despite pressure from Taylor Kuehl.
Parker stretched his lead as laps were used up but suddenly slowed and dropped out putting Kuehl into the lead. Kuehl led the final five for the win ahead of Anthony Madrid and Bo Partain.
The hobby stocks was a dominant drive by Zack Tate to win both mains of the Showdown. Darren Biggs narrowly took second ahead of Austin Kayton.
