BOONE, Iowa — More of the pieces that make up the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s are falling into place.
And just in time, with the 41st annual event coming up Sept. 4-9 at Boone Speedway.
“It’s a challenge, sometimes frustrating but always satisfying, to keep up with everything that has to be finalized before Super Nationals starts,” admitted IMCA President Brett Root. “There’s always some tinkering that can be done to make the best event in dirt track racing even better.”
Updated numbers see 970 cars, representing 29 states and three Canadian provinces, pre-entered. Two features are scheduled for divisions with 100 or more entries in the Wild Rose Casino Double Down Prelude Sept. 2-3 at Iowa’s Action Track.
“There has been lap money, start money and hard charger awards added. The list of stuff, from sponsor money to contingencies, can be hard to keep track of,” Root said. “Carson (Becker-Gramm, IMCA marketing integration and sponsorship director) has done a very good job getting new awards for a lot of drivers and what they don’t get at the track, they’ll get in the mail after Super Nationals.”
Modifieds will race for $10,000 to win their main event at Boone, Stock Cars $8,000, Northern SportMods $5,000, Hobby Stocks and Late Models both for $3,000, Mod Lites for $2,000 and Sport Compacts for $1,250.
Winning a championship, or making the main event in five divisions will be worth even more at this year’s Super Nationals.
All seven champions crowned receive a $500 gift card from NAPA. The Official Parts Supplier of IMCA and Super Nationals also gives $250 gift cards to the hard chargers in each main event.
“We will take a trailer load of stuff to Boone to give to the champions,” said Root, noting the champion and hard charger at RaceSaver Nationals receive NAPA gift cards as well. “There are so many things we do to recognize drivers’ accomplishments at Super Nationals, everything from winning a championship to making the main event.”
Championship rings, helmets and jackets will be presented during the IMCA national banquet in November.
Friesen Performance, already giving a wealth of product certificates to drivers competing with the crate engine option, has added another $2,500 to the Late Model purse, to be paid to second through 24th place finishers.
Start money has also been increased for the Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Northern SportMod main events. Division title sponsor Mach-1 had earlier announced it would add another $1,500 to the Sport Compact purse.
Main event qualifier awards made by Capital Sign Co. – replica door panels for Modified, Northern SportMod and Mod Lite drivers and replica hoods for Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact drivers – will be presented throughout the week.
Complete programs for Mod Lites will be held Sept. 2 and 3, with the first champion of the week crowned on Sunday.
Programs for Late Models are on Labor Day, for Sport Compacts on Tuesday, both along with Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock qualifying.
BSB Manufacturing Northern SportMod and Stephenville Starter Hobby Stock race of champions events on Tuesday each pay $300 to win.
Qualifying gets underway for Modifieds and Stock Cars on Wednesday. Thursday’s B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational for the Stock Cars and Friday’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Modifieds both pay $1,000 to win.
The Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions for Stock Cars pays $500 to win, the Rage Chassis Race of Champions for Modifieds $1,000 to win on Saturday and precede main events for the Hobby Stocks, Northern SportMods, Stock Cars and Modifieds.
Lap money will also be paid in the All-Star Invitationals and each race of champions.
