CONCORD, N.C. – A Midnight curfew prevented the Super DIRTcar Series big-block modifieds from getting on track for their scheduled 40-lap feature on Friday evening during the World of Outlaws World Finals presented by Can-Am at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
An afternoon rain storm delayed the start of Friday’s action at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, forcing track and series officials to race against time to get as much of Friday’s program in as possible before the Midnight curfew.
The Super DIRTcar Series completed all of its heat races on Thursday evening, leaving just the last chance showdowns and the 40-lap feature to be completed on Friday.
The last chance showdowns were among the first events to hit the track Friday once action finally began around 8 p.m.
Tim Kerr took the victory in the first last chance showdown for the big-block modifieds, with Michael Marseca and Tim McCreadie also earning spots in the 40-lap feature. The second last chance showdown was won by Gary Lindberg, followed by Steve Feder and Scott Hitchen, all of whom transferred to the feature.
The top-eight redraw was also held Friday evening, with Jessey Mueller drawing the No. 1 pill to take the pole for feature, which will now be held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. He’ll be joined on the front row by Yan Bussiere.
Championship leader Matt Sheppard will start the feature from fifth while his title rival Erick Rudolph will roll off from the 19th.
