Baca Doubles Down At Casa Grande

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — The Showdown At Central Arizona Raceway Presented By Toste Co. started a three-day race series Friday night with five IMCA divisions creating a 107-car field at the three-eighths-mile oval.

Heat races awarded passing/finishing points and the mains were straight up based on the points.

The modified field grided 24 cars with Joey Price leading eight laps before Chaz Baca Jr. took the lead after several low in turn four efforts to pass the leader were not successful.

Baca Jr. found the line in turn four to complete the pass and  led the final 17 laps to collect the win over Shawn Strand and Price.

Northern Sport mods driver Taylor Kuehl used the low line out of turn four on the opening lap to lead lap one and stretched the lead until a yellow with two laps remaining erased a large lead.

Kuehl handled the restart with ease and finished with the win ahead of photo finishing Eric Winemiller and Anthony Madrid.

Stock cars had a repeat winner when Chaz Baca Jr. used the bottom of turn two on the final lap to win.  Rob Moseley led two laps before Earven took over.

Baca gained ground on the leader and caught up with him on the final lap.  Baca Jr. won for the second time tonight .

Zack Tate and Steve Bitting Jr. put on a show in hobby stocks all 20 laps with Tate prevailing over Biting  with Scott Bernards finishing third.

The mod lite main was dominated by Riley Clem for the win over Michael Phay and Chris Lomasney.
