After racing on pavement since the beginning of the season, I finally had a chance to get down and dirty in a 360 sprint car at California’s Ventura Raceway.
It’s been said racing around the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is like riding a roller coaster. This past weekend in the F1000 and F2000 races at Mid-Ohio, it was certainly a rollercoaster ride of experience.
Byrd Racing spent the April 8-9 weekend running the Focus midget at Dillon (S.C.) Motor Speedway before taking a much-anticipated weekend off to celebrate Easter.
It was off to Sebring (Fla.) Int’l Raceway Feb. 24-27 and this weekend was an absolute blast. Getting to race a Porsche 911 GT3 for the first time was a tremendous learning experience.
Now we move on to what may have been the most successful racing weekend of my career. That came Feb. 3-6 at Circuit of The Americas, where we participated in the second round of the SCCA SuperTour with the F1000 car in the FA class.
